Ritz-Carlton Reserve Opens in Peninsula Papagayo

Ritz Carlton Reserve

In November 2024, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company will open its latest masterpiece: a lavish retreat nestled within the serene embrace of Costa Rica's Papagayo Peninsula. This unveiling marks a significant chapter in the Ritz-Carlton's storied history, which traces back to the grand opening of its inaugural hotel in New York City's bustling streets in 1911. Today, the company boasts a global presence, with over 100 exquisite properties gracing 30 countries around the world.

Dubbed Nekajui, the Costa Rica resort represents a harmonious blend of timeless elegance and contemporary luxury. Drawing inspiration from both traditional and modern Spanish architectural styles, the visionaries at SB Architects have crafted a sanctuary that seamlessly integrates with the breathtaking landscape of the Guanacaste region.

The name Nekajui, a tribute to the indigenous Chorotegan language once spoken in these lands, translates to "garden" — a fitting homage to the lush natural beauty that surrounds the resort. As Scott Lee, president of SB Architects, eloquently describes, Nekajui is designed to cater to the discerning traveler's desire for serenity, adventure, and a profound connection with nature.

At the heart of Nekajui lies an understated arrival pavilion, an ode to local design traditions, leading guests into a central open-air courtyard. Here, amidst the tranquil ambiance, guests will discover distinct zones that pay homage to the region's rich heritage.

The classic zone, inspired by the timeless elegance of Spanish hacienda-style architecture, invites guests to immerse themselves in luxury and sophistication. Meanwhile, the transitional zone offers a fresh interpretation of local vernacular, infusing guestrooms, suites, and residences with a contemporary flair that honors the essence of Guanacaste.

Venturing further into the heart of the resort, guests will encounter La Casona, a vibrant hub pulsating with life and energy. Here, a myriad of amenities awaits, from the inviting lobby and event space to the bustling marketplace and hidden rum cave. The central zone also boasts the main pool and pool bar, serving as the perfect oasis for relaxation and rejuvenation.
