I have always been in sales because I like dealing with people. More of a "mediator" than a sales person.
It is really very easy: know your properties, have sound knowledge of local laws, honesty, ethics and full transparency. Listen to your client and find out what their wants, needs and true budget are. Don't be afraid to ask for help from others. I do not pretend to know everything, and over the years I have dealt with some of the most successful and knowledgeable realtors in the Caribbean and Central America. I often pick up the phone for their perspective, especially on investment properties.
I tell my clients looking for residential homes, condos and lots, "I love my sister and my mother beyond words" and I would not sell you anything that I would not sell them, corny but that’s how I work.
Something else to keep in mind is: this is a small community and we will be seeing each other week after week, year after year in local restaurants, grocery stores, ......our relationship continues and does not stop at the closing.
